CBA Tenure Dossier Requirements

a. Background materials

i. A letter requesting a performance review in consideration for tenure/promotion in rank; and

ii. Current Curriculum Vitae (CV).

b. Self-Evaluation

i. Statement of educational philosophy as it applies to her/his appointment at the University and how it has (or has not) evolved during the performance period under review; and

ii. Explanation of reasons for which tenure and/or promotion is warranted.

c. Teaching

i. Copies of course syllabi representing the range of courses taught;

ii. Copies of assessments (e.g. examinations, final papers, final projects) in such courses and samples of student work;

iii. Copies of all student evaluations for prior six (6) years of full-time service or for all years of full-time service since last promotion, whichever is greater;

iv. Description of the changes made in pedagogy or course content as a result of the candidate's review of such student input;

v. Letters of recommendation from peers, colleagues, administrators;

vi. Records of classroom visitation by colleagues;

vii. Summary of advising responsibilities;

viii. Advising philosophy;

ix. Numbers of students advised (by semester);

x. Availability to students via posted office hours and/or other means; and

xi. Summary of advising effectiveness.

d. Service

i. Summary of activities in University governance and service, (e.g., committee memberships, extra-curricular activities, department functions, admissions assistance/recruiting); and

ii. Description of other service.

e. Scholarship

i. Summary of scholarship (e.g. papers/projects presented; forums/scholarly meetings/conferences attended, speaking, performance projects, publications, research activities);

ii. Description of active memberships in learned societies/professional organizations; and

iii. Any other relevant activities.
